My head is swimming, and I am feeling overwhelmed!
Why can’t things be easy??
The other day, when I was out for my walk, the strangest thought came into my head–at least for me.
I thought about robberies. I thought about crime. And I thought about how lucky we are not to have much of that here in our little farming village.
But do we?
At least it doesn’t feel like it. I can’t remember the last time I heard about a car being broken into or a house robbery.
But there is a silent thief. A thief who is robbing more than the cash out of the consoles of our cars. A thief that goes way beyond stealing a bicycle from the backyard.
It’s an internet thief!
And this thief is overwhelming. Seriously.
My head was swimming as I sat here with some of my team members this afternoon. We discussed protocols for password protection, best practices for handling different forms of payment, firewalls, and internet traps that breach security.
I saw more dollar signs to manage it all, better communication needs for all of it within our team, and a longing for simplicity that I am not sure I will get in this department of business and life. It keeps getting more and more complicated.
My eyes glazed over, and I began to get hot. Then I reached for chocolate.
First, I write this to complain and wonder, out loud, why there have to be thieves in the first place. Why can’t everyone be good?
Good people get preyed upon daily with every email and online purchase they send.
I also write this, though, to warn you.
Manage your passwords, protect them, and pay attention to where you log on to the internet.
Cyber security needs to be thought about. We have a problem, and it’s in the form of a thief.
An internet thief. Pay attention in 2025.
With love, as I warn you,
Kate
