Feeling like a rag doll, sometimes your mind and heart can be pulled in this direction and that—an actual juggling act for the psyche and heart.
Sometimes, you emotionally get pulled in so many directions that your head wants to explode, just keeping up with it all.
It’s been one of those Fridays for me. The day took on a life of its own due to what was happening to my friends in the world around me. I couldn’t claim the mountains of angst and challenges–I only listened to them, offering a sympathetic ear and a heart for others to connect to.
So what do you do on these days?
Well, you stop and recognize that this is a day you can’t fight with. You can’t wrestle it to the ground, slay it, and get back to what you had initially intended to do with your day.
Instead, you move to the side and let it take on its own life.
Then, you go for a walk on a beautiful fall day.
You count your blessings because today, you didn’t have the angst in your life.
You recall the night before when you and your youngest son attended a fundraiser for Hospice with good family friends. How fortunate you are that your family is healthy.
You breathe in the clear, dry air while marveling at how beautiful the flaming red and bright yellow Sugar Maples are lining streets, driveways, and blanketing hillsides this time of year.
We live in a beautiful place, but things aren’t always beautiful. Life is messy, and even though things are going right for you, it doesn’t mean that others around you aren’t struggling.
“It takes a village.” It does. We listen, offer our thoughts, make food, take care of kids, and walk together on those tough days.
Here’s to Monday! And a new week, a fresh slate, to start something great!
To all of those in my world, who are working through some “stuff”: It’s going to be okay.
We all go through these times in our lives. Just know you are not alone, and there are neighbors, friends, and family who will happily share your burdens to help you get through it!
“It takes a village…”
With love,
Kate
