Happy Valentine’s Day! These are my 3 little Valentine’s, from many years ago. š
During my freshman year in college, I had to take a writing seminar. The assignment was a poem about love. I pulled it out and dusted it off.
This can work for love or anything that is in your life that you are striving for or waiting on. Here you go! š
Patiently I wait
…for you.
You are behind, I am ahead. I slow down.
I feel your presence, I reach back. No, not quite there.
You step forward, then retract. I stand still.
Inside I long, patiently, watching you.
As sure as there will be a tomorrow, I know we will come together.
I see a glimmer of something. An awakening of the possibilities maybe?
I glance over my shoulder, encouraging you to catch me. Come on my eyes say.
I will not go to you. You must meet me. You must change and grow on your own, towards me.
Patiently I wait…for you.
I am strong, you are growing stronger.
You are discovering what I already know, where I have already been.
Come on I whisper, grab my hand, hold on. I will be just one pillar of your castle. Only one.
You can walk beside me, hurry up. I am very wary.
In you, I see me before. I see me now, I see my future.
I march on, I pull. You clamor, you claw… to catch me.
Quietly I watch you, encourage you, want you…all of you.
Nothing less. Only more. Steadfast, I wait.
I see a stir within you, maybe a spark. But not yet, keep coming…to me.
Your breath on the back of my neck, I can hear your life that will merge with mine…are you listening?
With my eyes, I tell you. Cautiously, I wonder. How far must I go on this journey without you?
Patiently I will waitā¦
...for you.
